Between the 26-29 June we attended and sponsored another successful Maritime Week Gibraltar.
The conference was full of insightful sessions, networking opportunities, barge tours and all things maritime.
Our COO, Kenny Maclean, gave an opening address alongside John Ghio, Captain of the Port of Gibraltar, and Vijay Daryanani, Minister for the Port, on Gibraltar’s vital role in the industry. This further highlighted the imperative collaboration and relationship between the local Government, Port Authorities and the private sector players.
The conference saw experts in different fields related to the industry present on various topics around alternative fuels, decarbonisation and sustainability. A number of Peninsula people also spoke including Ian Mathew, who gave an enlightening overview of Peninsula’s perspective on decarbonisation regulations, and Nacho de Miguel who covered Peninsula’s approach and predictions on the energy transition.
As main sponsor of MWG23, Peninsula hosted a drinks reception at Bistro Point, next to the University of Gibraltar’s Maritime Academy, co-host of the conference, allowing the attendees to see and understand Gibraltar’s geographical importance, while enjoying the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains, the Bay and the vessels crossing the Strait of Gibraltar.
