Peninsula, the leading global supplier of marine fuel, has joined forces with Southampton-based Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) as its first high-value Pioneer sponsor, supporting the charity’s mission to provide inclusive adventures at sea.
The sailing charity, which changes people’s lives through adventure and exploration onboard its tall ship, Tenacious, will benefit from Peninsula providing fuel for JST’s sailing voyages.
Not only will this enable the JST to deliver upon its mission more easily, it will, in turn, reap the benefits of working together with an inspirational, international organisation.
Peninsula Founder and CEO John Bassadone, said his company is pleased to be working in partnership with a charity that mirrors his organisation’s own ethos and values.
He said: “At Peninsula, we have a profound admiration and respect for the ocean and believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the freedom gained by being at sea, regardless of personal circumstances or abilities. The ocean is our office and we are committed to protecting it and showcasing everything it has to offer.
“The JST is an inspiration, and we are proud to be involved in the amazing work it undertakes to help individuals recognise their tenacity and self-value on board its flagship. As a keen sailor myself, I want everyone to be able to experience the joy and excitement that comes with being on the water.”
This collaboration with Peninsula means the JST can continue its vital work, and Patrick Fleming, JST’s Chief Executive, is delighted to be able to announce the partnership.
He said: “It’s incredible to be joining forces with Peninsula as it becomes JST’s first high-value Pioneer partner. It is most important for us to build mutually valuable partnerships with businesses that enable us to both benefit financially but also to work directly with them to explore the benefits that our unique work can bring to workforces. Peninsula’s support means we can continue to change lives at sea.
“We have no doubt the partnership will be as beneficial to Peninsula’s company and workforce, as it will be for us.”
As Pioneer sponsor, Peninsula, will supply a large amount of JST’s fuel over the tall-ship voyages in 2022 which starts with the upcoming first-of-its-kind “Big Weekends”. In turn, the JST will work closely with the organisation to create a bespoke programme of collaboration, offering Peninsula a way to focus their charitable efforts, improve staff morale and encourage teamwork through voyages and events on board Tenacious.
Peninsula, operates as a physical supplier as well as a reseller of global marine fuel (bunker) and has a global network of offices and operations in the world’s busiest ports.
The JST charity offers people of all abilities the opportunity to climb aboard its tall ship Tenacious for an immersive sailing experience and relies on funding from the public. Since its founding in 1978 the Jubilee Sailing Trust has welcomed more than 50,000 people on board.
