Senior Chartering Operator

SUMMARY
The Senior Chartering Operator will be responsible for the continuous monitoring of Charter vessel operations within the Peninsula Fleet, by optimising vessels commercial performance through strategic vessel operations and bunker planning. The role will be responsible for maintaining vessels P&L by managing the mitigation of marine and commercial risk through critical thinking and effective decision making.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- End-to-end management of our Time Charter vessels operations forCrude, Clean/Dirty Petroleum
- Have full knowledge of vessel operations, conduct all freight operationalactivities promptly and professionally ensuring that all obligations andrequirements under the charter party contract terms are met.
- Operators are expected to have a commercial mindset while schedulingand operating vessels to load and deliver cargoes along the value chain, as wellas look out for opportunities to capitalise on opportunities and/or add value tosupply chain.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the Time Chartered vessels includingthe issuance of voyage orders, the correct preparation of cargo tanks and theissuance of LOIs in accordance with charter party terms and conditions.
- Conduct all freight operational activities promptly and professionallyensuring that all obligations and requirements under the charter party contractterms are met. This refers both to charters internally and with third parties.
- Deal with cargo and freight counter-parties, terminals and vessels on aregular basis regarding all post-deal activities ensuring all necessary operationalinformation is passed on in good time and documentary requirements are met.
- Identify and maximise the embedded optionality within charter party agreements (i.e. lay cans, demurrage rates, ship space parcelling, ship swaps).
- Liaise with Charterers to ensure smooth operations to avoid disruption and to optimise vessel returns and usage.
- Ensure that bunker procurement is optimised in terms of location and cost in close liaison with the freight traders and in line with the company policy and guidelines.
- Daily updates of in-house system tools for ship operations and records management to track P&L.
- Make cargo and vessel nominations, prepare and send voyage orders and monitor progress of vessels.
- Required to pre-empt issues and avoid any delays which could effect profitability
- One of the most important elements in vessel management is the ability to monitor the performance and profitability of each voyage or the fleet. In order to achieve this, it is imperative that costs are accurately reflected and, where applicable, recovered from charterers or ship owners.
- Ensure that we comply with regulatory and governmental requirements as well as adhere to HSSE/Safety guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- ‘Time at Sea’ with hands on vessel operations experience.
- Ideally experience with IMOS voyage software
- Ability to work under pressure and high resilience.
- Protective resolution minded, with spirit of initiative.
- Good stakeholder management and ability to display ‘One Team’ values
- Self-motivated, quick learner and possess strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills to recognise and solve problems quickly.
